Premium Media Automation

Automatic Dolby-capability inspection, passthrough HLS packaging, network-timed premium intro and opening format notice.

Normal result

Upload one already-mastered Dolby program. Command stores the canonical asset in R2, queues the optional media-packager, validates the detected Dolby signaling, writes an HLS presentation back to private R2, and exposes that rendition to HVN through the same-origin /api/program-hls/ route.

What it does not do

It does not turn SDR into Dolby Vision or stereo/5.1 into an Atmos mix. Automatic HLS uses passthrough packaging only. Ambiguous Dolby Vision signaling and plain E-AC-3 without JOC are not promoted to verified Dolby delivery.

Database

npx wrangler d1 execute iridesceux-command --remote --file=MIGRATIONS/v31-premium-media-automation.sql

Back up D1 first. Apply v23/v24/v25/v26 first when upgrading an older database.

One-time packager deployment

  1. Open media-packager/wrangler.jsonc.
  2. Replace REPLACE_WITH_YOUR_D1_DATABASE_ID with the Command D1 database ID.
  3. Run npm install in media-packager/.
  4. Create a random token: openssl rand -hex 32.
  5. Save it with npx wrangler secret put PACKAGER_TOKEN.
  6. Deploy with npx wrangler deploy.
  7. Add the resulting Worker URL to Command as MEDIA_PACKAGER_URL.
  8. Add the same token to Command as secret MEDIA_PACKAGER_TOKEN.
  9. Redeploy Command and run Setup Doctor.

Premium intro + format notice

  1. Command → Playout → Premium format presentation.
  2. Upload the intro/trailer video once.
  3. Optionally upload an authorized Dolby mark; the source package does not contain an official Dolby logo.
  4. Enable automatic intro and opening format notice.
  5. Save.

When a verified Dolby Vision/Atmos program reaches air, the intro follows network time. Viewers joining late do not restart it. The main program then starts, and the top-right notice appears only during the configured opening window.

QC

Test a real Dolby-capable device/display and an unsupported device. Confirm generated HLS, canonical fallback, commercial hold/resume, local-market schedule timing, and live takeover before relying on premium automation on air.
